TO REPORT AN EMERGENCY: DIAL 911
The Beaver Lake Fire Department is dedicated to safeguarding life and property through a team of well trained professionals. Our mission encompasses delivering fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical services, and fire prevention/education to individuals requiring assistance.
The Beaver Lake Fire Department (BLFD) was established in 1979 under the leadership of Chief Bob Linville. Initially equipped with a late 1950s model pickup truck with a brush pump, BLFD later acquired its first fire-engine from the Lowell Fire Department. However, it was found to be inadequate for the terrain of our district. Today, BLFD proudly operates nine emergency apparatus and responds to nearly 900 calls annually.
Starting with the single fire station located on Cypress Ln, in Beaver Shores, the BLFD added a second fire station on Grimes Dr in 1998. BLFD hired Benton County’s first paid volunteer fire chief (Andy Jaeger) in 1986. Chief Jaeger served our community for 22 years before retiring. His leadership and vision paved the way for lower home-owners insurance premiums for many of our residents through an improved ISO class 6 rating.
Chief Jerry Owen, a dedicated BLFD volunteer and retiree from the City of Rogers FD, played a pivotal role in modernizing our fleet and expanding our facilities at the Cypress Ln station. He retired in 2012 after a 40-year career.
Chief Mark Finocchio joined BLFD in 2013, bringing a wealth of nationwide experience to steer the department through a period of retirements, honoring the legacy of those who served for decades.
In 2014, John Whisenant became BLFD’s fourth paid fire chief, overseeing the transition to a combination department and introducing ALS ambulance service in partnership with Mercy EMS.
In March 2023, Dusty Qualls assumed the role of Fire Chief for the BLFD. Chief Qualls also serves full-time as Battalion Chief/Paramedic with the Rogers Fire Department, where he joined in 2006. With a background as a paramedic, he was a key member of the Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) team for several years. Chief Qualls climbed the ranks, being promoted to Captain in 2011 and serving in some of the busiest fire companies in the city, including Engine 2 and Ladder 1. His dedication was recognized with awards such as Company Officer of the Year in 2013 and 2016, and as part of Fire Company of the Year in 2012. In 2019, he was promoted to Battalion Chief and currently serves as the Tour Commander for the "B" Platoon. Chief Qualls began his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter for the Avoca Fire Department. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Medical Services Administration from Columbia Southern University.
